Electric Cookers
There are many benefits to buying an electric cooker over a gas cooker. They are more versatile as they don't need to be placed near a gas supply and they are less dangerous too.
There are three types of electric cooker available to buy, either a single over with grill and oven, a twin cavity over which has a separate grill and oven and a double oven which has one small oven and grill and a larger oven built in. In most cases, a heavy duty electric point is required and a qualified electrician is the best person to install an electric cooker.
A single oven with grill is good for light cooking duties, but grilling and baking can not be done at the same time. The grill element can become clogged with fat being spat up and this can make it difficult to clean and creates smoke occasionally.
The twin cavity cooker has two ovens, one with a grill built-in and the other with just the oven part. This means that you can bake and grill food at the same time. These cookers are more convenient and most popular.
The double oven has one small oven with a grill and one larger one without a grill. These are more expensive but they are more versatile and have automatic programming available.
Other electric cookers have ceramic or sealed plate hobs, which are easier to keep clean, heat up more safely and look more modern than a gas hob cooker. Having an electric cook negates the need for a gas supply and that can help keep household bills costs down. With new cookers, their energy rating is supplied which shows how economical they are with electricity, which is again handy to keep bills to a minimum and worth looking at when buying a new electric cooker.
